Lot of 7 first issue, five cent revenue stamps on document fragments.
Scott Catalog No. R23 and R26
Lot of seven U.S. Revenue stamps. Each one featuring President George Washington, and each having a face value of five cents. Six are Foreign Exchange, the seventh is Agreement.
The fragment measures appx. 4 3/4" wide by 3" tall. Six of the stamps are hand cancelled, the seventh is rubber stamp cancelled. It seems the dates are 1866-67.
Stamps are of the First Issue, and are all printed in "red", although at this age they appear reddish, orange or brown. typical color variations for the period.
Condition on all is Very Good / Excellent, with no rips, no tears, no stains, no soiling, no modern writing, no problems.
